The Khouw family birthday tradition mandates a meal of "sweet noodle w/ egg" for the person having the birthday. The noodle symbolizes the wish for long life, (the egg symbolizes ...?), and the sweet soup symbolizes the wish for good/nice/sweet things for the coming year. Since I'm not as 1337 as my mom in cooking, I compensated by having fried noodle with fried egg, and topped my breakfast with sweet Icewine chocolate.
Played with Django date-based generic views.
Met Kathleen, a would-be chemistry instructor at CSU East Bay.
Had a 17-minute $6.50 buffet lunch at Favorite Indian Restaurant. Best food I've had in a while. I still miss Saras' food, though.
Jenny and Sandra sang "Happy Birthday" to me as I come to Concord lab to work. Thanx, ladies.
Went to BayPIGgies meeting at Googleplex. They talked about Python IDEs today. I forgot to take note of the specific building where the meeting is held (It was building 43. Thanx, Johan). That cost me the emacs talk (NO!!!). I got to meet and talk with Steve later on about PyDev.
I also got to meet and talk with Guido van Rossum. How cool is that?! FYI, he created the Python programming language.

Guido and I talked about how Python came to be (Guido needed a language between bash and C), CP4E (and DARPA grants), etc. When I mentioned about Hilary's push to use high level languages (Perl or Python) for introductory computer science classes, Guido suggested JavaScript. Very interesting. Imagine an introductory computer science class where your first assignment is to build a web page (HTML), and your second assignment is simple JavaScript built upon assignment 1. Each student will have a project of "spicing up" their MySpace profile pages. Very interesting.
I realized on my drive home that many of the software I use day to day is built with Python. Gentoo's
emerge is in Python. Django for CICORE is in Python. Bazaar is in Python. Wow. Guido, I owe a lot to you.BitPim 0.9 has USE="evo". Finally, I have a hope to synchronize my calendar in my cellphone with Evolution!
I also uploaded some old photos to Flickr. F-Spot is addictive. Need to stop and get some sleep...
Thanx to the Khouw family in Semarang, to my dear sister, to Imelda, Airin, Sooyun, Concord Campus Computer Lab co-workers, kristen3gen94 milis members, and Marilyn. Oh, and thanks be to God.
